It had taken me a while to come up with a name that I felt excited about. Not only did I want this name to have a personal meaning, but to express the intention I want to share behind my business, along with being catchy.
I remember a friend from my Yoga Teacher Training asked to get together to work on our future yoga business and brands. I was so excited and I remember feeling prepared to buckle down and get started. Then she asked, “so what is your brand name?” ….. Uhm, I had no clue. I couldn’t even think of anything at that moment or even that week. I was at a loss and what made me feel worse about myself was that she had already figured out her brand name, her purpose, her niche and targeted audience. What did I have? A 200hr yoga certification and passion to share what I learned, oh wow, is this really going to work out for me?
Well, let’s just say it all worked out at the end, but not without hard work, consistency and great support. Whether this friend knows it or not, she helped me see that I can definitely succeed. We moved on from our brainstorming days but still kept in touch about our progress. Keep in mind, I still had no business name or purpose.
As you will come to know and read more from my blog posts, I get amazing epiphanies while driving or taking a shower; it’s great! Don’t ask me how or why, but for some reason, this is where I do my best thinking and my thought-provoking questions get answered.
So the never-ending question, “What do I want my brand name to be?”. One day while driving, I kept thinking I want a brand name that incorporates my Latin heritage, my Asian lifestyle and belief system. I want a name that is not only my family’s name but is also representative of my yoga practice, my mission, and my life’s purpose. Then, there it was, the words came to me clear as day while stuck in traffic, AmorZen! Not only was it a perfect blend of both a Spanish word, Amor meaning Love, and a Japanese word, Zen meaning peace or a way of being, but it also had a catchy saying when pronounced together in English, which to me sounds like if it is asking if you want more peace in your yoga practice or which has now evolved to, more peace in your life.
This is the name I’ve been looking for. A name I want to live by, AmorZen Life.
This blog is not going to only be about yoga. It is meant to be about all aspects of one’s life. It is about working on finding a balance that best fits you. Finding an appreciation and understanding that someone’s life balance might not look like yours and that’s okay. As I say in my yoga classes, the only person on your mat is you. So focus on your breath and your body movement. The same goes for life. The only person living your life is you. Focus on what makes you happy and how you find healing without altering other’s life balance. The meaning behind the name of AmorZen Life has been an evolving journey and I’m sure it will continue to do so, but for now, Love more, have peace in the mind, tongue, and heart, and live a joyful life.
Live an Amor Zen Life,
